  Welcome to Wednesdays

The club for children with Autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD and their families.

This website is designed for Parents of ADHD ADD & ASD Children, their siblings, carers and teachers, and of course anyone else who may be interested.

Our children have either been diagnosed with or are waiting for a diagnosis for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Aspergers syndrome.

We are a  group of Parents that meet weekly for activities and support in Plymouth. Although still a relatively new and small group, our "bizarre" children fit in nicely!!. Children with ADHD and ASD often find life difficult within normal social parameters, their strange, bossy or withdrawn behaviour can receive more jibes and taunts than caring and understanding.

Currently based in Keyham Green Places Centre situated on Renown Street, in Keyham Plymouth we have meetings on Friday evenings from 4.45pm until 6.15pm.

Accommodating the entire family we are fully aware of the difficulties that siblings face following in the special children's wake. Trying whenever possible to delight in their triumphs and share in their disappointments.

Our activities include parachute games, art and crafty activities, as the weather improves we have facilities for outdoor play within the newly built play areas. There are basketball courts to burn off excess energy and a new large safe play structure with grass areas for quiet times.

Parking is limited within the complex, but can accommodate approximately 6 cars, parking widely available outside the complex. Access is easy and the whole unit has been designed to comply with legislation current and pending. Disabled facilities are good within the centre and access is via a gentle slope.

There are tea and coffee making facilities within the building and more than adequate toilet facilities.

Whilst we are Plymouth based, we welcome members from all the local districts within and outside the city. Although preference must be given to Plymouth residents.

Unfortunately we can only offer advice and support to parents/carers/teachers/ family and friends of school age children, as described in our aims and objectives.

We aim to bring these more frequently commonly diagnosed conditions to the forefront of others lives, educating and having fun along the way, taking pride in our children who are after all our future generations.

A child with any disability is a challenge in itself, but the more invisible the actual disability the less likely outsiders are to see it and allow for the natural behaviour of a child with such conditions.

Actually getting a diagnosis within Plymouth can be a lengthy procedure, with as many ups as downs and minimal support for parents like us.

There are some treatments and medications that can help our special kids, but most of our difficulties are with people who just do not understand our quirky little families.

Be sure to leave some feedback in our Guestbook, it helps us see that the site is working.
